Movies have fascinated me all my life. It was way back in 1989 when i was 5 years old that i saw the first movie 'Shiva' in a theater ( or that is what i remember as my first movie). This was one of the biggest block buster in Tollywood and i can still feel the Buzz that was in the theater that day - when Nagarjuna pulls the Chain off a cycle to fight the goons.. And thus was born a Fan to Nagarjuna. I remained loyal to him for more than an year until i saw Chiru's GANG LEADER. This was my introduction to a Phenomenon called MEGASTAR..... If you do not known about this phenomenon you definitely are not from AP. The 90s was a time when every boy grew up wanting to be a chiranjeevi. We would do everything he does in movies, fight like him, talk like him, and yes try to dance like him ... but no one can dance like him.... He was the god of the screen for us guys who grew up watching his movies. Trust me i just loved watching movies like Mutha Mestri, Rowdy Alludu, jagadeka Veerudu Athiloka Sundari, Gharana Mogudu, etc etc .... And i also used to play the songs of these movies and dance when no one was home. Today if someone asks me about those movies i would rather say i did not watch them... How many of you today would accept that you stole Rs 5 from ur Mom's purse or Dad's Pocket to buy 4 kismi Toffee bars..
Later i came to know about something called Bollywood. This was because our cable operator used to air one hindi movie everyday. this is when i came to know about the Khans, I was a big Fan of ShahRukh Khan at the time DDLJ had released, i donno why. Then my Focus shifted to Salman Khan but Aamir Khan was always boring. Some people said Amitabh Bachchan was the greatest actor who ever lived on this planet. I then became Amitabh's fan and yet never watched a complete movie of his. Even today i haven't watched movies like Sholay, Deewar, Don, Zanjeer, Muqaddar ka Sikandar etc from the beginning till the end ... Anyways i am not ashamed that i used to call myself a Big B fan. How many of you Big B fans have seen Reshma aur Shera ??? It's just a matter of opportunity i'd say. And then i grew up to a point where i could understand and speak english, but not the Hollywood english. But i still gave an attempt at watching few movies in star movies when my dad was not around. I always grew up thinking all english movies had atleast one frame of nudity which to my surprise was true .... So i always had to be extra cautious with the TV remote while watching them... Coming to the actual part, i loved action movies, love stories, i saw a lot of english movies which i don't even want to remember now.
After being an idiot for almost a decade one day i was enlightened ( by myself) and realized that all the movies i loved watching had one thing in common. There is a Family with parents and 3 kids, they are singing a song on the youngest one's birthday, Dad is killed, Mom is shocked, kids cry.... Then there are words on the screen in telugu/urdu/ hindi and English and then the Hero comes as a Goon or a Police officer, sings, dances, Kills his father's murderer, kisses the heroine and then there are some more names on the screen and finally people go back home. A movie which runs for anything between 2 to 3 hours typically comprises of the following things
After watching these telugu and hindi movies for a decade and watching the same hero who has been going to college on screen for the last 25 years and in every movie two young girls one third the age of the hero are trying to seduce him showing their cleavages, navel, thighs etc , i decided i need to put an end to watch these so called bumper hits ... Then came a trend where the Hero would romance with the heroine on screen and the Hero's son , a budding artist would romance the heroine off screen ..
After growing old enough to go to an engineering college, i decided that in order to look cool in front of the english speaking girls, i needed to have knowledge about some good movies and some boy bands like Boyzone, Westlifeand yes its coming .... ' THE BACK STREET BOYS'. I was successful in watching a lot of movies but/and thank god, before i got hooked onto the boy bands i developed a taste towards Rock bands... I started watching some serious movies though i didn't really have time and sources... College days passed by very fast and once i was out of college i was jobless. During this time the only thing that kept me occupied was movies, thanks to my highspeed internet connection.from then on till date my love for movies has just kept increasing ... There were days when i watched 3-4 movies a day .. there were times when i watched a movie for a dozen times in a month... and also days when i went to watch a movie at 10 in the morning after having worked in the office for 12 hours until 8 in the morning ..... Thanks to Satish and our similar interests, we managed to watch movies which no one would would even dare to watch... Can you imagine going to an english movie and it turns out to be a bengali movie and there only 6 people in the theater .... Also watching every big movie on the first day at 10 AM show on a friday after working for 12 hours in the night shift and banging heads for the mistake we did, i claim to be one of the biggest movie fans i have ever seen till date.
Upnext - An unending list of movies i would watch any number of times...
