M K Gandhi = { National Holidays, Munnabhai MBBS}
Unfortunately, this is the status M. K. Gandhi enjoys today ... In one of my recent posts about Che Guevara i mentioned how Popular guevara is in our Urban society- knowingly or unknowingly. Today is Gandhi Jayanti and most of the people around me do not remember it.. They remember the date very well coz it is another dream company coming today on the campus, but it did not strike some people until 9 in the night atleast once that it is Gandhi jayanti .. Inspite of few people shouting around that it was dry day, they still could not recollect it .. After seeing Relax was closed, they still could not recollect it ... You might say, what is so great about Gandhi jayanti and why should i remember it ... Ask the same fuckin question the next time you shout , Bharat Mata ki jai when India wins a Tonty Tonty match against Bangladesh or when you dress up like a "true Indian" (oh shit, u r wearing Puma Sandles + kurta + jeans and callin it traditional wear) on the independence day or Republic day ... Ask the same thing to yourself every time you say, " Mee Anna hazare" .. If you have forgotten Gandhi, you cannot be Anna Hazare .... People spoke of Gandhigiri and clapped, broke their hands when Sanjay Dutt and Bapu came together on the screen in Munna Bhai MBBS and then quoted some fancy dialogues for a week and then got back to Chindhigiri .....
Leaving these lesser mortals aside, when ever i think of Gandhi and his deeds, i feel the only big mistake he did was lending his surname ... Some people have taken infinite leverage of this and have taken the nation to dogs ..... Don't know how the REAL Gandhi family must be feeling, but as an admirer of the great man i am mighty pissed off with the abuse of his name ......
